Bart,

Thanks for clearing that up. I have a two terminal hookup on my NST so I'll
have the three gap safety gap. The only think I wasn't to sure about below
is what you are calling a tranny? Is a tranny the power source, like an NST
or similar?

Yes, I am referring to the transformer. I use the term "tranny" for "transmissions, transistors, transformers," etc. Just a habit.

BTW, if you see confusion about transformer grounding, then you are seeing clearly. Not everyone does the same thing. I prefer RF ground at the transformer as do a few others. Some do not. There are many years of disagreement in the list archives.

Because you will be inside a building where there is no place for a separate rf ground, you have 2 options.
1) Use the counterpoise without grounding it.
2) Use the counterpoise and ground it to mains ground.

Item 2 is the safest from a bodily harm standpoint but it will also have a greater chance of harming hardware (computers, monitors, etc) as discharges will be reflected on mains ground.

Item 1 will have the least chance of harming hardware.

However, there is ALWAYS a risk of killing hardware when running inside an environment where computers, telephone systems, etc. is located, even with item 1. Because of that, maybe you should rethink if you really want to run the coil in that environment (I know you didn't want to hear that, but it is a very real risk).

Take care,
Bart
