I bought my tube coil off e-bay.  I never would have figured it out 
otherwise.  But once I had a working one, I could study it and figure 
it all out.  I think it cut a giant amount of time off my learning 
curve there!!!
Of course, if you have good caps, use them ;-)))  I think we are just 
trying to point out the options people have and be sure they don't go 
to a lot of trouble making oil caps just because they are not aware 
of the newer MMCs.  There will always be people making caps with 
glass, mica, and other old ways for various reasons.  But that will 
be because they want to not because they have too... There was a 
person a few years ago trying "clay caps" just for fun....  When 
people ask us how to make caps, we just suggest MMCs since they are 
sort of the "best" to suggest.  But they are not the "only" type of 
cap out there...  If one is making a big pig system where MMCs get to 
be too expensive and commercial caps are not an option, then a nice 
rolled oil cap may be a fine way to go!!
