FW: Unpot ++update

OK guys I have the Jefferson all cleaned up, as good as it can be. On
one side of the windings the insulation was falling apart and I think I
had a burn, hard to tell with the tar. Removed about 1/4 of the windings
until I got a reading on the ohm meter about 1.93k , well on the "good"
side I only removed a few layers and it reads about 1.8k. Did not try a
low voltage test yet but I don't think I will have any thing good to
report. I will most likely run a 6.3 Filament transformer with a small
variac and check it with about 2v input and see what the difference is
on the two output sides.
It got too cold too quick out in the shed to play with voltage tonight.
 I do have a nice low volt winding made of 10ga, no damage there, might
save it for a ballast set up for my 13Kv@xxxxxxx transformer. I am
hoping to use a couple of 225w resistors and an inductor for a ballast
set up

Phil, all,

The one time I tried to unpot a "half-dead" NST, it was not
a pleasant experienece for me. , but I do
recall it just being a generally AWFUL experience!
