These predate all of us by a couple+ decades. Frank Lee's TC used series
connected commercial caps. I still have the plans that he (Morris and Lee)
would send out - you had to pass a small 'exam' before you could purchase
a TC from him. I built one around 1970 and didn't kill the cap bank until
about 20+ years later. Only real flaw in his design was the real long
secondary.
