Re: explanation of sparks into air needed

With high freq sparks I tend to think of it as more of a "pushing" effect.
The electrons are repelling each other with explosive pressure and they push
each other out into space surrounding the electrode.
There is really no exacting way to tell where they will go. It's a classic
problem similar to vortex formation in a stream flowing around small rocks.
The vortexs and eddies tend to form with regard to many variables such as
rock locations, different localized currents traveling at different speeds
(rotation formation), etc.
It is a very complex picture and would require fractal math and a very high
speed high power computer for approximate solutions.
In the case of electrons it would depend a lot on exactly where other air
molecules are, and their motion with regard to one another. Also, stray
cosmic rays would enter into the picture which would add to the complexity.
And, their interactions with the localized electric and magnetic fields near
the electrode.
