I once covered a car-size inner tube with spray glue
and foil. It was ugly, wrinkly, and lop-sided.

I hated it, but it worked pretty well. Later, I
covered a 30" vinyl pool ring with paper mache, then
coated it with polyurethane to harden it, then covered
it with strips of foil tape. It turned out much better
looking.
