RE: RSG and NST's

Original poster: "Lau, Gary" <gary.lau@xxxxxx>

Synchronous RSG's have always been used with success with NST's,
provided the cap is properly sized. The oft-repeated advice of not
using async RSG's with NST's stems from the fact that async RSG's
typically have variable speed controls, and if an RSG is run too slowly
with an NST, mains resonant-rise will cause hazardous voltages to
develop which tend to fry NST's. Pigs are more tolerant of such
voltages (or it may be that they are less prone to resonant-rise, not
sure).
