Schedule 40 doesn't signify that it's pressure rated.
Schedule 40 PVC conduit is nonmetallic rigid
electrical conduit, and clearly isn't intended for
pressure applications. It's fine for secondary forms
though.

Hi Adam, All,
Evidently there is PVC and PVC, and there is schedule 40 and schedule 40.
I am right now looking at 3 pieces of white PVC pipe with the following
markings:
1) PVC 1120 SCH 40 ASTM-D-1785 |NSF-pw| ASTM-D-2665 |NSF-dwv| 280PSI
2) PVC 1120 SCH.40 PR.330 PSI-at- 73 F. [ASTM D-1785|NSF-pw|}
PVC-DWV SCH.40 ASTM D-2665 |NSF-dwv|
3) COEX CELLULAR CORE PVC-DWV PIPE IPS SCH40 SERIES ASTM F-891-98 |NSF-dwv|
*NON PRESSURE*
I also have some gray pvc marked SCH40 NON-METALLIC CONDUIT U/L RATED etc.etc.
All different manufacturers, but all purchased from the same Lowe's store
at different times. One really needs to read ALL the fine print.
