You could also use a 950 VAC 1-2 mA power xmfr with a full wave bridge.  Use
a 1-2 meg current limiting resistor in series with output to slowly charge
the energy cap.  Then the sideac breaks down and fires the cap into the
primary.  With 950 VAC output would be approx 1343 VDC rectified output.

Someone mentioned different sidacs.  What mfgr, part no., and rating were
they?
