Spheres...local coilers

Gary,

I would like to score one of those spheres for use in a future van de
graff. I recently pulled a rather large solid cylinder of HDPE out of a
local plastic company's dumpster. Now I *have* to build that 8 foot tall
dream van de graff. Your sphere would spare me the chore of paper mache or
weather balloon epoxy work. I might bid on one of those, if I can get some
cash flowing in a day or two.

I was amazed that you live in Murfreesboro. I live near Chattanooga, about
an hour and 45 min or so from your location. I would love to come up there
and see your coil demostrated. I've been on this list for around 5 years,
and haven't had the fun of visiting another coiler. Although I have helped
to influence a local who already wanted to build his own TC. Hopefully he
will join the list soon since I rave about it every chance I get.

You are always welcome to visit my lab if you are ever in Chattanooga.

Hi

When your toroid gets too large you will know it. 4 streamers are really
cool looking as far as I am concerned. If your toroid is too large you get
no streamers at all so you must tape a nail or something to the side to get
1 streamer. That 1 streamer will be a very white hot lighting bolt. If you
tape a nail in several places then you will get more streamers. I don't
think you can get a top load that is too large you can always attach a nail
to it and get a streamer no matter how large it is. The larger toroid holds
a larger charge and discharges a hotter arc.

Check out my 38" diameter sphere

If you want to try your luck with a larger toroid check out ebay auction

the extra space more than I need all the stuff I have piled up so I have no
place to work on new projects.
