In the thirteen or so hours that have passed since my original
idea/posting, I have had one of my "crazy days", have registered a domain,
designed a database and written several hundred lines of Perl
code. Sufficient to say, this IS happening.

The database will be found at: <http://scisalvage-dot-org> (like the domain?)

I have been inspired by the Pupman lists as an online resource and want to
contribute something that will complement them.

My original scope for information for the project was really just TC/HV
stuff, but I think that the resource would be more valuable and of interest
to more people if I open it up to salvaged equipment for "amateur science"
in general.

Through this medium, I would hope that we can offer a resource for those
who cannot access/afford equipment and supplies or who, like me, just love
trying to improvise with what is at hand, wasting nothing.

As the project is in it's infancy (although most of the coding is done), I
would welcome comments and suggestions regarding content and, above all,
people who will be prepared to share their salvaging experiences through
the database.

If anyone is involved in any disciplines outside of the Pupman lists,
please pass this on. The more that we build our online communities, the
more we can all enjoy our respective hobbies.

It is now time for cider and bed ;-)

Cheers

M
