I found this while browsing the web:

It is a 10" or 12" polished copper sphere with a neat
access hole already cut in it. Could be just the
ticket for a homebrew VDG. Might make a really cool
looking TC terminal too.

That looks prety! But I've given up on spheres. Even on top of toroids they
just tend to push the breakout on the toroid downwards.
