In addition to possible losses in small arcs between tape segments, I've
also wondered if the top load capacitance might be less than the desired
value prior to the segments being shorted by virtue of the small arcs.
If it only achieved the final Ctop value after arcing, this could result
in a pri-sec resonant mismatch prior to that point. But truthfully, I
can't say that I've attempted to measure an actual difference in
performance.
