hmmm   Rick has a point here...

so if I take  120 single phase  ( imagine 14.4KV going into a pole pig) and 
apply it to a center tapped 10:1 transformer  ( e.g. 120 to 12v)
and I take my O-scope and test each lead to the center tap I will see 2 
sine waves peaks opposing each other??
now I need to find that center tapped xformer ...
