Medical Xray machines don't use HV caps, as you say. Industrial Flash-X-ray
equipment does use HV caps.
Medical lasers use HV caps
Electrocoagulators use HV caps
The ultrasonic sources used in lithotripsy (kidney stones) use HV caps.
Defibrillators use a lot of HV caps (a big market for the smaller Maxwell
"double ended plastic case" style)
It's possible (but I'm not sure) that a variety of radiological treatment
equipment (accelerators of one sort or another) use HV caps.
