Advantage --- more pps will create more ionization and slightly longer
sparks. Please note this will not increase voltage --- only a slightly
larger plasma field which provides longer spark.
Disadvantage --- NST's were not designed for this type of service and may
fail. Most experimenters buy them used so there is no way to tell how close
to failure they are BEFORE you use them in TC service.
If your goal is longer sparks it's best to go to a much larger sec coil dia.
and gain the advantage thru sqr Ls/Lp ratio. Inductance increases as the
square of the radius so usually a lot is gained with a modest increase in
sec dia. This will increase voltage and usually provide larger plasma field
(of ions, etc).
