Well.... figure he's running hard core class C bias so he can get 70-80%
efficiency.. Tube's rated at 450W plate diss, 900 for two.. at 12kW and 80%,
he'd be dissipating 2400W.. a mere 250% overload.  The beauty of tubes is
that they can actually take overload without catastrophically failing...
Short life, sure, envelope suck ins, sure, etc.
