    A biography of Steinemtz if called 'Loki'

    My reading (other than the biography) indicates his crew tended more
    towards Marx type generators, and cascaded power freq transformers.

    He/they did a LOT of lightning simulation effects/testing.

    They found Marx (and similar) more controllable...
