The problem is easy to solve with normal non-conductive tape, just have a
single strip that is folded back on its self for 1/4" around the outer
diameter of the toroid. This will then connect all of the other radial
pieces together. The extra thickness can easily be smoothed out, and will
hardly be noticed..
