Well that was easy!!! :-))))  The soft start resistor can also be used to 
quickly drain the buss caps too when you want to power down.  Having a 
consistent buss voltage helps the gate drive power supplies and makes the 
IGBT crossover timing more stable.

Sort of a perfect solution there ;-))
