Hi David,
	Fresh oil is only minimally irritating, only those with skin conditions or 
allergies
are likely to be affected, but OLD oil can be far nastier. Oils break down 
both with
time, and due to strong electrical fields, and the break down products can 
be acidic
and irritating.
