splicing magnet wire

Hello List,

I was wondering if anyone has had any success using spliced magnet wire on a
secondary coil? I plan on winding a 10" x 50" coil pretty soon. I am going
to run it at 5- 8KVA. The problem I'm having is finding a continues roll
that contains enough  wire  . I will need about 16lbs of 18AWG.  I  can't
afford to buy new so I am forced to ebay for it. It looks like the most I
will be able to get per roll will be 10lbs. If I go this route I will have
one splice at about 1/3 the winding length. Would it be better to place the
splice near the bottom or the top of the coil?
