I would suggest looking at the LANL report by North (it's on Terry's
site at
hotstreamer-dot-com). It has a whole chapter on rectifier design with
tables,
etc.
What you don't see much anymore is those old charts showing how much
voltage
drop you get with a given load for simple C input or L input filters.
Cheap solid state regulators have probably made this obsolete... it's
easier
to just make a higher voltage supply with a ton of ripple and regulate
it
down.:
What's the file name for the LANL report? As for the "old charts"
certainly the guys who design the power sources to feed those cheap
solid state regulators have to be thoroughly aware of the principals.
