However, don't get one that's too old if you're looking for semiconductor
design info.... the advice on diode strings, for instance, has changed in
the last 15 years, reflecting new semiconductors.

A really old one (say, 70s at the latest) would be handy for the tube
circuit design info.  Late 60s might be an optimum vintage.

The old (before cheap computers) versions also sometimes have design
procedures that are practical for paper and pencil, but have been superseded
by modern analysis.
