Jim,

Oh I see.  Yes, those motors are extremely weak and not really
suitable.  See also my posting about shaded pole motors.

I remember someone working on modifying a motor a few months
ago and was having trouble getting it to sync up.  It may have
been a 1/4HP motor.  I don't know if I ever heard what the outcome
was.  I can't remember the person's name offhand.
