Re: Battery power for big SSTC

Steve,
Funny you should mention it. Friday night I scrapped out two solid state
regulated power supplies rated at 0-16 V, 625 amps each, (that's 10 kW
out!) at the local scrap dump. Broke my heart to do it -- they were built
in '92, and looked to be in fine shape. Only problem was that they weighed
upward of 500# each, and I had no way to move them intact. Looked as
though they had been pushed off the tail of a truck, so some of the sheet
metal was bent, but all the parts were there. The 440V, 23 Amps, 3 Phase
input power would be a bit hard to come by, though.

If any one has an interest in one or both, write me off list for pickup in
central NY. I took them apart pretty clean -- every thing is color coded,
and it wouldn't take more than a day or two to reassemble one or both of them.
