Larry,

I found the exact reverse of that. I found tubes light good with a low
running power input, as soon as streamers start to break out the tube gets a
boost in power, if there is a "good" streamer of a few inches or more then
the tube almost goes out. For some reason it seems at its best at the moment
where the toroid starts to crackle but doesn't giv eout any streamers.
