Enrique,

The best source I've found for the HV transformer and all low frequency 
high voltage components is scrapped microwave ovens.  These often have very 
little wrong with the "important stuff."  Aside from that the tank 
capacitors have proven to be the most difficult in my VTTC adventures.  For 
air variable capacitors, while the price isn't the greatest, a reliable 
source is www.surplussales-dot-com.  Large HV RF capacitors can often be found 
on E-bay.  A search for 'doorknob capacitor' and/or 'HV capacitor' will 
often give you pretty good results.
