Cockroft Walton Multiplier circuit - ripple

Thanks for all your replies regarding the high voltage multiplier circuits.
Although I had already put the
Cockroft-Walton multiplier into the somewhat expensive category (hv
capacitors), I will probably go that route
anyways.
Anyways regarding these multipliers and charging high voltage capacitors
banks with them, do you guys typically connect
the output directly to the capacitor bank in question???? Even though the
whole input is DC level shifted up, there is still considerable ripple on
the output (depending on capacitor size). The capacitor bank being charged
(along with say a 10MEG
resistor in series) should reduce output current and also reduce the ripple
output. What do you guys typically use as far as diode strings and
capacitors for a 60Hz transformer output???
Thanks
