Lighting Incandescent &fluorescent tubes with TC's
Original poster: "by way of Terry Fritz <teslalist-at-qwest-dot-net>" <CoolCorals-at-aol-dot-com>
Hello, I'm reposting as it did not show up.
I have had my first coil up and running a few weeks now and have
recently asked about output on it, in another posting (coil running, but
issues). Anyway, I have been interested in the lighting aspect of these
coils.
I understand that you can light fluorescent bulbs with tesla coils
without direct contact. How is it best to try this? What type of bulb do
you use (wattage, style, size)? How close should you have the bulb and how
far away will it light? Also does it need to be grounded or connected to
anything?
Also, I remember some postings about using incandescent bulbs and
lighting them with TC's. How well does this work? And again, what's the
best way to go about it (bulb style, grounding). Does the bulb have to be
in direct contact with the toroid, or at a distance?
Thought I would ask some questions about this before attempting
anything, since this is my first coil. Any help you can give would be
appreciated.
Thanks, Brad Kretzmeier
