thank you so much!
where can I find a good modern web site or ... to get good information to
build a Tesla device w/ 3 coils?
FYI I am building a bio-medical device I need good explanations to describe
all the changes going on as well as the different waveforms & signals being
created. Most web sites don't seem to get to that level of explainations.

Start with Ed Sonderman's Excel spreadsheet downloadable from the
http://www.pupman-dot-com/ website...
There are also a number of java based TC calculators available online.

vortex shaped meaning conical? No particular reason why you! couldn't. The
Griffith Park Observatory TC is conical, with the point at the top. I
suppose one could build a secondary that is pointed at the bottom... The
mechanical winding aspects would probably be the challenge (winding on a
cone is tricky)...

It's called a magnifier, usually.. One primary, a fairly tightly coupled
secondary, and a third coil that is connected to the secondary.
