These are commonly called "sonotubes" and they work great for coilforms.
You need to seal them inside and out with 3 coats of G.E. Glyptal (local
elec. motor rewinding shop).  Allow at least 10 hrs. to dry between each
coating.  Use a 1/4 inch clear acrylic disk inside the sec. coilform approx
12 inches down from the top end to prevent any interior flashovers.  Secure
this disk with RTV silicone on both sides.
