I have to strongly disagree with Antonio's statement on letting the
cardboard breathe in a humid environment.
Sonotubes contain a "release agent" which causes the tubes to expand and
release from the concrete cylinder that they are used as forms for.
Construction workers spray them with water to cause the release agent to
act.
If you allow the forms to "breathe" in a humid environment the forms will
begin coming apart.
Seal them with glyptal as I have described and you will not have any
problems. We sold a model M-150 unit to a Milwaukee science museum and this
18" concrete sonotube coated with 3 interior and 3 exterior coats of glyptal
has been in operation for 17 years.
SEAL IT!!
