Adam: I dont recomend your choices, but here are some suggestions. The
sonotube must be well soaked with dilute laquer to seal all the voids in the
cardboard tube. SOLVENTS ARE FLAMABLE AND TOXIC. use good ventalation.
Denatured alcohol is a good cleaner, but rubbing alcohol contains water and
should not be used. To make a stopper you can use PVC plastic or glue
several layers of pressed cardboard into a thick layer and cut it to a tight
fit and glue it in place. when dry coat everything with several layers of
laquer. I used shellac to make my first coil, but good quality shellac is
hard to find today. Use only plastic, NO METAL, screws. Nylon screws can be
found at auto-zone or Home depot. With good care sono tubes will work well.
