For what voltage and current?
For small quantities, here are good alternatives:
Solid core spark plug wire (good to 40-50kV, depending on kind)
RG-8/RG-213/RG-11 type coaxial cable is good to several 10s of kV (foam
insulated coax (e.g. lowloss 75 ohm cable/satellite TV RG6 or RG59 type) is
not good for HV
Neon Signs are typically wired with some form of HV wire, either
polyethylene (polythene in UK?) insulation or silicone.
I should think that RS or Farnell sell small quantities of HV wire
(although, probably not 1-10 feet)
