Hi Chris, Coilers,
What you describe is a 6 Pack MOT supply, and there are plenty of
them around. Your plans sound fine concerning the Tupperware box
and having them in oil. Shop around for a plastic cutting board
that will fit into the Tupperware box and secure the transformers
to it with short screws. Then you can pre-wire all six together
and drop the whole assembly into the oil.
My advice on ballasting is to use the caps from the microwave as
well, and put them on the HV side of the transformers, three in
series on each of the high voltage leads coming out of the box.
I've tried both inductive ballasting, using a large MOT with its
secondary shorted, and capacitive ballasting and the capacitive
one works the best on my 4 Pack MOT supply.
Check "Greg's Garage" website for additional info on MOT power
supplies for Tesla coils.
