Crackle Neon Tubes and tesla coils . . .

Looking for some demonstration pieces for my tesla coils, i was looking at 
some crackle tubes.  I was wondering if these
tubes will work in a similar fashion when energized by a tesla coil's 
field, or if they will only work properly when
hooked up to a neon sign transformer.
