It's not that they are really all that nonlinear.. the FET looks like a 
resistor when it's turned on. For the IGBT (which is kind of a FET and 
bipolar transistor in the same device) you're really looking at Vce for the 
bipolar transistor, which can be very, very small, but is really not all 
that dependent on Ic
