Yes. Toroids need to be the same size as well.

It is impossible not to, the only true twin is one that shares a single tank
circuit.

No. All you need to do is make sure the two coils are out of phase with
each other. If you like you can wind the primaries in opposing directions.

Yes. For safety they should be connected to a ground as well, but the
ground does not need to be as heavy as it would for a single ended coil.
