Ok,
Here is another good story about the 42l's i have just discovered. I also
bought caps to make a .0075uf -at-24000v cap. Its 20 in series of .15uf 1200v
caps. I ran the coil for about 4 minutes just now. I was getting awesome 2
footer from my 12/30. The caps were not perceptably warm. If they were
warm, it was too close to call. I will try my .33uf caps, on the 12/60 coil
again, but with more in series. I think i have enough for 23 in series so
about .0143uf -at-27600vdc. I really cant comprehend that these tiny .15 caps
are running fine, but the .33s cant. I realize that the .33s are seeing 2X
the rms A, but they are 2X as big. Is it possible i over-volted them?? I
did have a 24kv rating, but i guess you never know. Ill get back to the
list soon, if i find good news.
Keeping my fingers crossed,
Steve Ward.
