RE: How bad did I boo-boo??? MMC Resistor.

Well lets see. How many series caps do you have?? You could figure out the
power consumption. Lets just take a DC example.
Say we have a series string of 10 MMC capacitors across 15,000 VDC (of
course, your coil will not be DC). Each capacitor has a 1meg across it so
effectively you have 10meg across 15,000 VDC will consume 22.5 Watts of
power or 2.25 watts across each resistor . . . well you get the picture . .
.
Yes, you'll need to get those 10 meg resistors. However, if you're MMC has
maybe 50 capacitors in series, then you are probably alright.
Dan
I grabbed and didn't look before I bought!!!
I got 1M 1W Metal Film NTE resistors (Blue Body). Did I boo-boo or can
they work? Do I NEED 10M's??
Do I need to go back and plead stupidity??
I should know better than to shop on my lunch break!!!! No time to
paruse!!!
Thanks,
