Jeremy,

It's probably a cap run motor, and may need the cap
placed between the red and yellow wires.  The yellow and
blue connect to the AC power.  Or it could be cap start,
and need the relay, etc.  Many possibilities.  It may
also be a hysteresis sync motor, but if so, they are 
usually labeled that way.  A HYST motor will always
start in a different position, so you'll have to re-phase
the system everytime you use it.  DC Cox did mention
a special type of HYST motor that only starts in
2 different positions.

If the motor has a brand name or other info, those may 
provide clues.
