Not exactly. This choke has two "c" cores, these, when joined, form a 
complete loop, which is very magnetically efficient. The wire is 
wrapped around some PVC pipe. The cores are only looped at the end 
and have straight sides. I straight part of the cores runs through 
the wirewound PVC. I can vary the current by placing wooden shims 
bewteen the two cores to vary the air gap.

The two cores are held together by gravity, but the gap between the 
two cores is determined by the shim thickness.

The core came from an old pole pig I had lying around.
