These may not be what your talking about.  they are not round like most
pole pigs.
I have two 12kv and a 15kv transformers all rated at 1.5kva 
that are used for stepping down the line voltage to an instrument for
monitoring the line.  with a known ratio of input to output.
all are made by g.e. and are quite heavy duty. they have 110kv bil rating.
picked up one from the black hole in new mexico. the other two were given
to me by a friend in the power distribution industry.
