I would imagine, given the low normal service voltage and BIL, that this is
one of the usual rubber encased "brick with a hole through it" style
transformers.  $50 is probably pretty close to the brand new price (which,
depending on the mounting brackets, and whether it has things like junction
boxes for the sense winding, might go up to $100 or so).  This one appears
to have some sort of sense relay as well, which would make it more
expensive...

Bear in mind that any moderate size  industrial or office building (with
400Amp service, say), is going to have at least three of these things hooked
up to the wattmeter, so they're pretty common, and readily available surplus
(although, since they don't really ever wear out, old ones get reused on the
next job....)
