secondary wire crossed over

A wire on my secondary coil crossed over another wire. From this, there is a
spark about 5" shooting from it. It is in the middle so i really don't want to
re wind the whole thing. I was thinking i could cut out the small section of
wire that has crossed over another wire. Would this work?
