Pig current?

Hello Coilers,
I'm anticipating the arrival of my pole pig this week and I was wondering
what a recommended power setting would be for starters? I have a ballast
choke that I can adjust the current on by varying the thickness of shims
between the E and I core sections. My adjustment range is about 4 to 12
amps as measured by a Amprobe with 240 Volts applied to the ballast.
The coil is a 4 X 22 which is currently yielding multiple four foot long,
thick and nasty streamers when powered by a bank of OBITs and a resonant
25 nF. MMC. The pig can go as high as 16 KV when pushed with my variac,
although I think I'll be conservative on the first runs and keep it down
around 12 KV for starters until I get the feel for it.
