Low Budget SRSG project

Well I've succeded in making two microwave oven fan motors synchronous. I
made two flats a little over 3/4" wide on a motor labeled as 18watts, it
syncs up instantly with the 2" diameter disk which the fan blades were
mounted on untill I broke them off. That being succesful I modified a larger
one that is labeled for 120v/1A input. At first with 1/2" wide flats it
wouldn't synchronize even though the disk isn't heavier than a CD, it would
like sync for a fraction of a second then slip out of sync for 1/4 of a
second then repeat. Taking some more off the armature so each flat was 5/8"
wide caused it to synchronize after a couple of seconds of the already
mentioned catching and slipping. Adding two brass bolts to the disk caused it
to run below 3600rpm. I think maybe the problem is that there still needs to
be a little more taken off the armature because I feel that this motor should
be capable of spinning a rather small disk with small electrodes to sync.
Maybe it is a torque issue but there's only one way to find out.
