Use as many turns as needed in the primary to tune the coil. If you
need 15 turns, use that, if you need 20 turns use that, etc. Or add
more capacitance and use that to put the coil in tune. It seems much
easier to me to add primary turns or capacitance than to make a new
secondary. You certainly can use the secondary you have. You can
even use an off-axis tuning coil to bring the coil into tune.
BTW, last night I wound a new secondary for my new small coil test.
This coil will be similar to my TT-42 TC, but smaller. It will be
powered by a 7.5/30 NST, and use a sync rotary, etc. I'm hoping
it will give 30" sparks or so. The secondary is 3.25" x 16.5" wound
with 28awg magnet wire. I listed all the specs a couple months ago.
This has nothing to do with your coil.... I'm just mentioning it.
In other news, I've sold out all my spun toroids, and variacs. I have
no more available, and I don't intend to make any more toroids.
cheers,
John
