Hi Winston,
If reducing the coupling doesn't seem to fix the problem, you may be
overvolting the secondary. Try using a longer secondary winding (say 30
- 32"), drop the wire gauge down to say #24, and use "double build"
(2-layer) wire insulated magnet wire. This should do the trick!
